DAVID, AGE 7, COLOMBIA

Meet David, an affectionate and resilient little boy who is in need of a loving, dedicated and permanent family.

David has experienced some tough starts in his young life. When he was just under two years old, David was placed in the care of a long-term foster family, and in 2018, he came into the care of the children’s home where he currently lives. David is described as a caring and sensitive little boy who loves to be the center of attention! He thrives when he has personalized support and receives thoughtful feedback from his caregivers and teachers.

David is in the first grade and has quickly adapted to the school context. His teachers recently remarked that he is a respectful student who enjoys many activities, especially swimming and music therapy. David recently shared that he looks forward to having a family that will help him with his homework when he needs it, and that will also enjoy going out for meals together. Since coming into care, David has made great strides in his emotional regulation skills. He shares and explains his needs and is able to identify his caregivers and teachers as supports who can help him solve problems when he encounters them. David has an affectionate nature and enjoys giving hugs and being embraced. He enjoys quiet, peaceful environments and especially loves to spend time with his best friend.

David is behind his peers academically and has been diagnosed with an Unspecified Speech & Language Development Disorder. He receives speech therapy interventions three days a week to support the development of his verbal and expressive language and is seeing improvement. Since his time in care, his therapists have noted that speech therapy has allowed David to achieve greater speech mobility and feel more comfortable and confident expressing himself.

David is in need of a loving family to call his own. To learn more about David, contact our Adoption Team at 212-400-8150 or email us at info@spence-chapin.org.
