We are looking for a loving, permanent family for a sweet little boy named Diego.  Diego has been living with a foster family for the past 4 years where his favorite activities include listening to music, playing with toys, and spending time with the members of his foster family.

Diego has been diagnosed with epilepsy, hydrocephalus, and Arnold Chiari Syndrome – a form of spina bifida where the brain tissue extends into the spinal canal.  Diego received a shunt in his brain to manage his diagnosis of hydrocephalus and receives medication for his diagnosis of spina bifida.

Diego’s development is delayed for his chronological age and he requires constant support in carrying out his daily activities.  He receives physiotherapy and speech therapy to elp strengthen his development.  He can say some words, knows his numbers up to 20, and is able to recognize and name the members of his foster family.  Diego is able to crawl and sit upright for several minutes but is not yet walking.  He has dominance on the right side of his body and can pick up and grip toys with his right hand.

Diego has been able to develop strong emotional bonds with his caregivers who state that these bonds have been integral to the progress that has been made with his overall development.  They know his developmental skills will only strengthen with the love and support of a permanent family who is able to care for and meet his unique needs.

Diego is waiting for his forever family and is ready to be matched immediately.  If you think you could be the forever family for Diego, contact our Adoption Team at 212-400-8150 or email us at info@spence-chapin.org
