We are looking for a loving, permanent family for an adorable little girl named Elena. Elena was born in September of 2015 and has been living in a children’s home in Colombia for the past year. Elena has had some tough starts in her young life and has made strides in her development since living at the children’s home which has given her the ability to establish close bonds with her caregivers and strengthen her emotional expression.
Elena has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder which has resulted in delays in her development, particularly related to her comprehensive and expressive language skills. Since living at the children’s home, Elena has achieved greater mobility which has helped to increase her independence. Due to her diagnosis she requires assistance in carrying out her daily routines and a caregiver by her side throughout the day. Elena communicates her wants and needs throughout nonverbal communication such as hand gestures and lots of smiles.
Elena currently attends preschool where she enjoys spending time with her peers and engages in play with them throughout the day. Elena receives speech and occupational therapy throughout the week to help strengthen her development.
Elena’s caregivers have noted that she “enjoys and needs the presence, company, and love of adults.” Noting the strides she has made since arriving at the children’s home, her caregivers note that she has the potential to do very well with a loving and permanent family that is able to meet her needs. If you think you could be the forever family for Elena, contact our Adoption Team at 212-400-8150 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
