Meet Julian, a charming, adorable little boy who was born in November of 2011. Julian is described as a sweet, spontaneous, and creative child who is ready to be placed in a supporting and loving environment with his forever family.
Julian has experienced some tough starts in his young life and thus was entered into the child protection system in Colombia at the age of 2. Due to his tough starts, he is initially wary of new people. However, during this past year at the children’s home, he has allowed the children’s home to provide him with a safe and loving environment and is able to assertively show his affection for all of his caregivers, usually in the form of hugs.
Julian is currently in the 1st grade where he is often recognized for his leadership ability and has interest in academic activities. He enjoys learning new things – to paint, play soccer, and ride his bike. His teachers note that Julian performs his school tasks in a very dedicated way and does fairly well academically. Julian can become easily distracted in school and find it difficult to focus on his schoolwork. To improve his academic performance, he receives support from a speech therapist which allows him individual attention when working on schoolwork.
As a result of his tough start, Julian has been diagnosed with ADHD and post-traumatic spectrum disorder that are currently managed with medication. Since his time in care, Julian has made great strides in utilizing techniques such as deep breathing when he becomes overwhelmed. His ability to allow the children’s home to provide him with a safe and loving environment has greatly increased his emotional stability and sense of belonging. Julian is an incredibly resilient child whose deepest desire is to have a family that loves him. As his caregiver recently shared: “Julian is a very special child, the only thing he needs to get ahead is a family that gives him love and all the necessary care that he needs.”
Julian is in need of a loving, encouraging, and supportive family. He is ready to be matched immediately! If you think you could be the forever family for Julian, contact our Adoption Team at 212-400-8150 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
