MAX, AGE 6, COLOMBIA

Talia Oren Marcom Requests Photo File 3 32

Meet Max, an adorable 6-year-old boy living in a foster home in Colombia. Max came into care when he was two months old and has been living with the same foster family since that time. Yet, while Max has benefited from the protection and care of his current foster family, he is in need of a forever family who can love and support him permanently.

Max’s caregivers have shared that he is a “spontaneous and smiling child” who loves playing with other children in school and maintains respectful and affectionate relationships with the people around him.

As an infant, Max was born prematurely and had been diagnosed with respiratory distress syndrome and fetal growth delay. Max presents with developmental delays and has more recently been diagnosed with an unspecified speech development and language disorder. From a young age, Max has received occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy to support and strengthen his development.  His caregivers and therapists have shared that Max shows enormous potential for learning in a loving, caring, and protective family environment. As they recently reflected:

“It is important for Max to grow with a protective and dedicated family…who are able to care for him and ensure his physical and emotional integrity for the rest of his life.”

Max easily expresses and receives affection, especially from people who are part of his known environments. Some of Max’s favorite activities are jumping, dancing, and listening to songs. He loves to play soccer, and particularly enjoys building figurines and puzzles. He also loves to listen to and dance to music – in particular, his favorites are reggaetón and coastal, cheerful, tropical rhythms.
