We are looking for a loving, permanent family for sweet Valerie.  Valerie has been living in a foster home since 2016.  Her caregivers have noted that since living with her foster family, she has shown remarkable growth in her developmental abilities, that will only be strengthened with the support of a loving, dedicated, and permanent family.

Valerie has been diagnosed with Down syndrome and global neurodevelopmental delay.  Valerie is not yet walking but shows evident strength in her arms and legs.  When playing with toys, Valerie can grip them tightly and she makes attempts to stand throughout the day.  Valerie currently communicates through nonverbal language such as hand gestures and lots of smiles.  She receives physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy to strengthen her development.

Valerie is described as a very sweet girl who is sociable and loves to give affection.  She enjoys listening to music and dancing as well as watching cartoons – Mickey Mouse is her favorite.  She is dependent on adults for support and supervision with her day to day activities and is currently receiving nutritional supplements for a caloric protein deficit.

Valerie is an adorable little girl who has the ability to thrive in a family environment that is prepared to meet her unique needs – one where she feels loved and supported.  She is ready to be matched immediately!  If you think you could be the forever family for sweet Valerie, contact our Adoption Team at 212-400-8150 or email us at info@spence-chapin.org.
