Hi! We\u2019re Beth and Nick! We live in Brooklyn with our sassy little Shih Tzu mix, Maddie. We value warmth and kindness, believe that humor is the key ingredient to getting through tough moments, and we\u2019ve never met a cute animal clip on social media we didn\u2019t immediately want to share with each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We met in 2020 (about a month before the pandemic shutdown), adopted Maddie through a rescue organization in 2022, and got married in 2023. We\u2019re hoping our next major life event is to welcome a child through an open adoption. In fact, we\u2019ve known since the beginning of our relationship that adoption would be part of our lives. We even discussed it on our first date! Family is important to both of us, and we agree that there are many ways to make a strong and happy one\u2014adoption just feels right for us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beth loves podcasts and reading up on what\u2019s happening in the city, and she\u2019s a dedicated fan of several Bravo reality shows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dato curioso<\/strong>
Beth started writing before she could actually write\u2014as a toddler, she would tell her mom stories to write down and read back so she could \u201cedit\u201d them. A lot of them starred a neighborhood dog named Casey. She\u2019s also originally from Kentucky, which tends to take people by surprise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nick loves \u201890s hip hop, bird watching, fishing, golf, and using all his many tools on small home projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Nick was in his 20s he taped an episode of a reality show focused on home garage makeovers. The episode aired, however, the show didn\u2019t make it\u2014but he has evidence in the form of an old VHS tape!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nuestras vidas<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019d describe our relationship as loving, happy, and silly. We love stand-up comedy, snuggling up to watch movies, and spending time with our dog. We\u2019ve both lived in the city for a long time, so we have a well-established support system of friends here. And Nick\u2019s parents both grew up close by and have an apartment in the area for visits, so we spend time with them quite often.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our favorite thing about where we live is that it\u2019s surrounded by lots of green space, so on the weekends, we often take Maddie on long walks together or just wander the neighborhood when the weather is nice. We also love that it\u2019s a diverse area with good restaurants and cultural institutions, so there\u2019s often something going on for us to explore. We\u2019re looking forward to sharing it all with our child!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nuestra Familia<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019re very close to our families and both sets of parents are very excited to take on grandparent duties to a new addition! They live about a 1.5 hour drive from each other, which makes seeing everyone for the holidays easy (including Nick\u2019s sister and brother-in-law when they are able to fly in from California). In fact, Nick\u2019s parents have started coming to Beth\u2019s family\u2019s house to spend Thanksgiving together along with her sister, brother-in-law, and two nephews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nick\u2019s family is Italian on his mom\u2019s side and he has many family recipes to pass on to the next generation. Beth is half Iranian, and she\u2019s looking forward to passing on certain Persian traditions like the spring New Year, called No Ruz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also have small children in our lives! Several of our friends have kids, and they\u2019re all waiting to take on older \u201ccousin\u201d roles at a moment\u2019s notice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
