Spence-Chapin, in partnership with Social Welfare Society, Inc, is happy to offer two opportunities for Korean adult adoptees to visit Korea. Visit the Korea Summer Programs page to download an application!
Korean adult adoptees interested in studying Korean can apply for the language scholarship program at Kyunghee University. There are two intensive three-week sessions to choose from, the first runs from August 5-23 and the second from Aug. 28-Sept. 17. The scholarship covers the tuition and dormitory fees throughout the duration of session. Applicants are encouraged to have a basic understanding of the Korean alphabet before arriving to Kyunghee University.
The second opportunity is the SWS Welcome Home Program. This one-week program will be held from Aug. 18-24. The program blends cultural activities, volunteerism, and travel into an unforgettable week of experiences that will bring adult adoptees closer to Korea. The group of participating adoptees will be accompanied by a group of local Korean volunteers who will help guide the adoptees throughout the week’s activities. Preference is given to those adoptees who have not previously visited Korea.
