Kai was delightful to play with; he told us all about how he hopes he will find a \u201cgrande familia\u201d (big family) through adoption, and if they happen to have a pool, he would be thrilled! Since he\u2019s used to sharing a room with other kids, he told us that he hopes his new family will have a brother for him to share a bedroom with, so he \u201cdoesn\u2019t get lonely.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kai had a rough start in life and came into the child welfare system when he was only 5 years old. His legal process has now brought him to a children\u2019s home (orphanage) where he is eligible for international adoption. Kai has no formal diagnoses, and he is not prescribed medication. The social worker shared that sometimes, when Kai is sad or angry, it is difficult to understand his words and he might struggle to follow instructions. However, she added that he does well with individual attention and can be redirected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kai told us that if he had a superpower, it would be invisibility and also that someday he would like to travel to Medellin, Colombia, for vacation. Like many kids his age, Kai does not like broccoli, but says his favorite food is soup. In school, Kai excels in \u201cInformatics\u201d (computers) but is not the best at math.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kai needs a family who is kind, affectionate, playful and who likes to be active (play soccer, swim, ride bikes, etc.). A family for Kai will be able to support him as he continues to process his feelings in a supportive, loving home. Kai also mentioned that he hopes his new family will get him braces to fix the gap between his front teeth.
