{"id":7213,"date":"2013-03-09T03:34:49","date_gmt":"2013-03-08T15:34:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/spence-chapin.org\/blog-international_adoption-korea-post-travel-reflections-part-ii\/"},"modified":"2019-12-24T04:53:34","modified_gmt":"2019-12-23T16:53:34","slug":"post-travel-reflections-part-ii","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spence-chapin.org\/yue\/post-travel-reflections-part-ii\/","title":{"rendered":"\u65c5\u884c\u5f8c\u5605\u53cd\u601d\uff1a\u7b2c\u4e8c\u90e8\u5206"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is the follow-up to the <a href=\"\/yue\/%e7%b6%b2%e8%aa%8c\/international_adoption\/korea\/%e6%97%85%e8%a1%8c%e5%8f%8d%e6%80%9d%e7%ac%ac%e4%b8%80%e9%83%a8%e5%88%86\/\">first part of this family&#8217;s story<\/a>.\u00a0 The second part of this narrative discusses the dynamic between James and his siblings and how they have continued to adjust to one another.<br \/>\n&#8220;We were surprised that James was fine as we went down the elevator, during the taxi ride, and during our walk to our hotel room.\u00a0 About 5 minutes after we arrived at our hotel room, James began to cry quietly.\u00a0 It was also his nap time and he was tired.\u00a0 I got him to take a nap and I put him in a portable crib provided by the hotel.\u00a0 He slept well even though his foster mother had slept with him on a floor mattress during their time together.\u00a0 The foster mother had told us how much James liked the Korean character Pororo.\u00a0\u00a0In preparation, we had purchased Pororo toys and downloaded Pororo shows on our iPad while in Korea.\u00a0\u00a0They were very helpful during our time in Korea whenever he began to cry as well as on our long flight back to the States.<\/p>\n<p>James is doing well.\u00a0 We were pleasantly surprised how quickly he adjusted to our family and living in the United States.\u00a0 We arrived home on a Friday evening and our daughters were very excited to meet him.\u00a0 Our older daughter Ellen, who recently turned 8, and James have bonded very quickly.\u00a0 The first few nights, James woke up frequently and I held him until he returned to sleep.\u00a0\u00a0Fortunately, he did not resist being held.\u00a0\u00a0By Monday evening, he began slowly sleeping in our time zone.<\/p>\n<p>We were fortunate that my mom stayed with us for almost a month after our arrival.\u00a0 Having her with us allowed us time to bond with James as well as reassure our younger daughter Chloe, who recently turned 3 and was having a difficult time with having another child in our family.\u00a0\u00a0Chloe is very fond of James now and tells everyone that he is her brother and that he is now part of our family.\u00a0\u00a0However, she still gets annoyed when James follows her around or chases her when she attempts to run away.\u00a0 Overall, we believe that having two young children has helped James feel more comfortable at our home.\u00a0 We feel very blessed to be together with James.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><em>Continue to check back to the Spence-Chapin blog for more narratives from adoptive families.<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is the follow-up to the first part of this family&#8217;s story.\u00a0 The second part of this narrative discusses the dynamic between James and his siblings and how they have continued to adjust to one another. &#8220;We were surprised that James was fine as we went down the elevator, during the taxi ride, and during [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"give_campaign_id":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[1043,1097,1085,56,114,1112,1488,1067,1035,1405],"tags":[3808,65,130,97,146,147,3809,91,54],"class_list":["post-7213","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-adoption","category-adoption-resource-center","category-adoptive-parents","category-international-adoption","category-korea","category-korean-adoption","category-siblings","category-spence-chapin","category-spence-chapin-adoption","category-sws","tag-adjustment","tag-adoption","tag-adoption-resource-center","tag-international-adoption","tag-korea","tag-korean-adoption","tag-sibling","tag-spence-chapin","tag-spence-chapin-adoption"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.1 -
