We recently returned from Colombia where we met these sweet sisters. Lilly, 8-year-old and Dakota, 6-year-old, live together in a Children’s Home in Colombia that benefits from Spence-Chapin’s Granny Program and both girls are very close with their Grannies. Lilly and Dakota have lived most of their lives in care and have a tight bond. They are dreaming of finding an adoptive family where they can continue to grow together.
Lilly told us she wants to be a gymnast when she grows up. Dakota shared that her favorite food is plantains and she loves the color pink.
These close siblings have faced adversity in their young lives and need a forever family who can provide them with love and affection as well as patience and support for their development.
Siblings like Lilly and Dakota who are considered ‘waiting children’ generally have multi-faceted characteristics and needs which exceed the common characteristics and needs of children otherwise placed in one of our international programs. We are looking for the right family for waiting children because of their unique needs and vulnerabilities.
