Aaron is described as a calm, affectionate, happy little boy who resides in a Children’s Home in Colombia. He responds to caregivers with smiles and sounds, explores his environment with curiosity, putting everything he grabs into his mouth, and he loves to be held by his caregivers.
Aaron experienced a tough start to his young life and carries several medical diagnoses that will require ongoing care from the health system. Some of the specialists currently caring for Aaron include pediatric pulmonology, pediatric neurology, pediatric ophthalmology as well and physical therapy and speech therapy.
Children like Aaron, who are considered ‘waiting children’, generally have multi-faceted characteristics and needs which exceed the common characteristics and needs of children otherwise placed in one of our international programs. We are looking for the right family for waiting children because of their unique needs and vulnerabilities.

Elizabeth L. Smith, LMSW (she/her) is a compassionate, trauma-informed, and adoption-competent therapist. In her Adoptee Support Sessions, she provides non-clinical support services to adopted people. Her clinical training, narrative work, and living experience as an adopted person inform her perspective and practice. Elizabeth possesses deep awareness, empathy, and understanding of the shifting complexities of adoption, reunion, search, and the importance of being together in community.
