We are a progressive, positive, welcoming, caring family that loves to travel, dine out, spend time with loved ones, and create new memories and experiences with the people we love most, our friends and family. We have been together for 5 years and married for 2 years, and have a strong foundation to our relationship that will lead us to be a welcoming family for our new child. We are excited to adopt in order to grow our family and impart the love, values, and knowledge we have to a young person, while providing a safe and loving home for them. We know that our future child will grow up with a ton of support from our communities, which include our parents, our siblings, and our best friends. We learned much about the adoption process from close friends of ours who have been through the process twice, and have decided that this is the best option for our family and for us to have a child. Our Lives
In our day-to-day life, we work full-time jobs where Kamal is primarily working remotely, and Steve is primarily working in-person. During the week, after work, we typically exercise, watch television, and cook dinner to enjoy together as a family. We enjoy trying out recipes and cooking a variety of vegan/vegetarian dishes, while also cooking meat dishes on occasion. On weekends, we spend time with friends and family (birthday celebrations, dinners out, group outings, day trips) and take care of household tasks & chores. We also enjoy exploring NYC and Queens, ranging from spending time in local parks, at museums, at Broadway shows, and at events, festivals, and parades that take place across the city. When we have time off, we enjoy traveling to experience new places, local and afar. We plan to travel with our child to ensure they have opportunities to see a variety of places and cultures.
Our Family
Our parents live locally on Long Island and are dependable sources of support for us for childcare, emergencies, and advice. Steve’s brothers live with their wives and children on Long Island as well, and Kamal’s sister and nephew live in Florida. Our siblings all have young children, and we have spent ample time with our 4 nephews. We have learned about the early stages of parenting from our siblings and have provided support to them in caring for our nephews often. Our extended families live around the country, throughout New Jersey, Connecticut, Nevada, Maryland, Florida, and the NYC area. We have a healthy circle of close friends in the New York City area and across the tri-state area. Many of our closest friends (who have become family to us) are people that we have known for 15+ years. Our friend group includes new parents, nurses, social workers, educators, and police officers.
