Virtual Parent Group: Openness and Talking About Adoption

  •  marzo 8, 2023
     18:00 - 19:30

This month we will discuss the best ways, timing, and language to tell children about their adoption story. We will explore:
– Whether it is best to wait for a child to ask questions or share information before they ask
– Why experts recommend that a child know their entire story by the time they are 12
– What is open adoption and how can there be openness if there is no access to birth family
– How to reframe difficult information

The Virtual Parent Group welcomes adoptive parents of children ages 0-18 to join in an evening of conversation and community, discussing topics that are important to them. Hosted by Spence-Chapin staff and adoptee voices, the parent group creates a space for parents to share their experiences while also gaining insight from a clinical perspective.

Families currently enrolled in Community Programming, (Bagels & Blox/Play Cafe and Mentorship) are automatically enrolled.

Families not currently enrolled in programming are invited to join for $25/session.
