James & Olivier

james oliver ft

We’re a French and British couple who’ve joyfully made the United States our home (Thanksgiving has become rooted in our family traditions). Our journey here has shaped us into curious, open-minded, and adventurous people. We’re so excited to share our love of different cultures and experiences with a child, to help them embrace their own unique heritage, and to explore the world together as a family.

One of our favorite traditions is putting up our Christmas tree. We have collected many ornaments from our travels and time spent with our friends & family, and we cannot wait to continue this tradition with our child.

As a gay couple, we have always known that we wanted to become parents through adoption and we are incredibly grateful to have this chance to grow our family here in New York, thanks to you.

About James:

About: Hi, I’m James. I’m a 34-year-old author and admin assistant from England. I’ve always been drawn to stories, they’re at the core of who I am and what I do. Whether I’m writing, traveling, or sitting in a Broadway theater, it’s that love of storytelling that drives me. It’s also why I’ve always been enchanted by The Wizard of Oz, Disney, and anything that sparks a sense of wonder. Living in New York City has only deepened that connection, giving me incredible access to the magic of live theatre.

About Olivier:

About: Hi, I’m Oli. I’m 34 and French. I work for a healthcare technology company. I love to create and build things, in my spare time I knit and code computer programs.

Fun Fact:

We have only ever lived on islands: Olivier was born on La Réunion (a tropical French island in the Indian Ocean) before moving to England (an island nation) where we got married and we now live on the island of Manhattan in the US.

Our Lives:

We love to travel whenever possible but we also cherish our time at home, often spent on walks around the city. We enjoy our apartment where we have fun cooking, listening to music or playing games. Our friends and family love to visit our home, we have a fantastic view of the Empire State Building from our dining room and a great rooftop where we like to have lunch in the summer.

Oli speaks French and we’re excited to grow our bilingual family. James often visits his friend who works in a children’s bookstore where we like to browse beautiful picture books or attend readings and fun activities.

We live minutes away from museums, parks and recreation centers but also healthcare facilities and schools.

Our Family:

James’ family lives in the UK while Oli’s family’s still in La Réunion and we like to visit each other as much as we can. They are very excited at the prospect of a child joining us and they are already planning to visit the US to welcome them into the family.

Despite the physical distance with our family, we are very close and speak to each other all the time. James has an older brother, 2 younger siblings and 4 nieces & nephews, and Oli has a younger sister. We love getting together as much as we can. Christmas is always a great time for us to gather and celebrate with everyone. We all love to eat and family time is usually a guarantee for a delicious roast or a creole dish.

Final Thoughts:

We are truly grateful for the opportunity to share our story with you and for you to consider us in your adoption plan. Our hearts and our lives are open for a child and we promise a life full of love and opportunities.
