Casey and Steven

casey steven ft

We’re Casey and Steven! We met in Washington, D.C. in 2016 and have been together for more than 10 years. We moved to Brooklyn in 2021 and got married in 2025. We’ve lived in the same beautiful, family-friendly neighborhood ever since, and we’re lucky to live close to many friends and family.

We both come from close knit, loving families and see our parents, siblings, nieces and nephews often. We’re at our happiest when our worlds blend together – whether we’re getting people together, planning group trips, hosting dinners, or celebrating special occasions. Our family and friends are ready and excited to welcome our child with open arms.

Adoption has always been the way that we’ve wanted to grow our family. This path feels natural to us as we are fortunate to have both close friends and relatives who were adopted or who had children through adoption themselves.

We’re so happy with the life we’ve built together and we’re excited to open our home even wider. We hope to give our child a life full of love, laughter, and the same sense of family that has meant so much to us.

Our Lives

We love our home and neighborhood, and spend much of our time in New York City, whether within Brooklyn or visiting other boroughs. We shop for food at our neighborhood markets and love cooking for friends on our roof deck. We often go for long runs in Prospect Park, eat at our favorite restaurants in Chinatown, take ferry rides when the weather is nice, or just wander the neighborhood with friends.

Travel is a big part of our lives, both near and far. We frequently visit Casey’s family in Connecticut. We also spend a large part of every summer with Steven’s family on Cape Cod. Outside of the United States, we both speak Italian and are fortunate to visit Italy several times a year, alongside exploring other cultures around the world.

We’re so excited to share our home, our neighborhood, and our adventures with our child.

Our Family

Family is a very important part of our life together and we’re lucky that many family members live close to us. Casey’s parents, brother, niece and nephew live just outside the city in Connecticut and Steven’s extended family is in Bergen County, NJ. Steven’s parents spend summers at their beach house on Cape Cod, where we’re fortunate to spend lots of time with them. Beyond our parents and siblings, we have a big extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins already so excited to welcome the newest family member. We’re also close with friends in Brooklyn who feel like family including their kids, one of whom is Casey’s godson. We’re already loving uncles and know the joy of showing up for the children in our lives.

Every year, we celebrate Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter with different parts of our family. We also take regular trips together upstate, to the beach, and abroad. We cannot wait to share our family’s traditions with our child, and we look forward to adding and incorporating the traditions of our child’s birth family and culture into our lives.
