LGBTQ+ Parent Group

  •  May 13, 2024
     7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Parents who identify as LGBTQ+ and are currently parenting through adoption are invited to join this virtual, community-based group that meets weekly via Zoom. This group is a space where LGBTQ+ parents can offer support to one another, learn from each other’s experiences, and explore topics related to personal identity, parental identity, and navigating the joys and challenges of being an LGBTQ+ adoptive family.

This is a closed group, interested members are encouraged to register today. For questions regarding this group, please contact the facilitator Annette Zenker at [email protected].

Group Facilitator: Annette Zenker (she/her) is a queer, transracially adopted person. She holds a BA in Psychology from Vassar College and is completing her Master’s in Social Work at NYU. As a social work intern at Spence-Chapin she works as a therapist alongside adopted people and their families as they process the complex emotions and questions that accompany adoption. Annette is eager to facilitate a space where members of the LGBTQ+ community can connect via shared experiences and help each other work through tough questions about family and identity.

Venue:

** We have chosen the Go to Webinar Platform to respect that during the exploration phase, some families are not yet ready to share their hopes to adopt with others and in Go to Webinar, your names and faces will not be visible to other participants. But we are always happy to support families in building an adoption community! If you do feel ready to connect with other pre-adoptive or adoptive parents, please let us know and we can facilitate introductions for those who wish to be connected to other families.**
