Pre-Adoptive Single Parents Group April 19

This group will offer single prospective parents an opportunity to meet other people hoping to grow their family through adoption. We will discuss the unique challenges and joys associated with the journey toward single parenthood. Join us and find a community to support you!

We are facilitating this group on multiple dates – March 22^nd, March 29^th, April 5^th, April 12^th, April 19^th

This event will be facilitated virtually via Zoom; registration is required and the fee for this event is $80 for all five sessions.

Meet The Facilitators

Emily Parkington, MSW Candidate

I work within the Pre-and Post- Adoption Services department, supporting families throughout the home study process. I am currently working towards obtaining my MSW at Columbia University.  I’m excited to be co-facilitating this group with James, as I believe that identifying and building support systems is integral to the adoption process. I look forward to creating a community through this group and cannot wait to get to know you all!

James Leary, MSW Candidate

I work within the Pre-and Post-Adoption Services department, with prospective adoptive parents completing international adoptions. In addition, I am a co-facilitator of Play Café, a group for adoptees age 6-9. I am currently working to obtain my MSW from Columbia University School of Social Work. I am happy to be co-facilitating this group with Emily because I have seen how beneficial support networks and community can be to parents involved in the adoption process. I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone!
