Charlie & Charlton

charlie charlton ft

Hi! We’re Charlie and Charlton, a Brooklyn-based couple who love languages, building community, and spending time outside. We’ve been together for 14+ years, share a love of staying active, and are surrounded by a large, supportive family across the U.S. and Indonesia.

We met as students at Stanford, and since then, lifelong learning and exploring new ideas have been a big part of our relationship. Our work focuses on helping immigrants access legal support and making sure families can get food and essentials delivered to their homes. We’re excited to welcome a child into our lives and raise them with curiosity, laughter, and connection to a big extended family.

Charlie works in non-profits and philanthropy and loves crossword puzzles, yoga, swimming, biking, and learning languages like Spanish, Korean, and Indonesian. Charlton advises and invests in startups, enjoys biking and swimming outdoors, and hosts friends in our backyard whenever he can. Together, we’re happiest walking our sweet dog Peanut around the neighborhood, playing pickleball, and exploring the city with friends and family.

Our Lives

We work from home in Carroll Gardens, a family-friendly Brooklyn neighborhood with tree-lined streets, parks, and great schools. Many of our closest friends—people we’ve known for over a decade—live nearby. Peanut, our affectionate lab/beagle mix, loves kids and is best friends with our friends’ toddler, Isaac.

Our home has space for play, a backyard for fresh air and family gatherings, and an in-law suite where grandparents and relatives can stay for long visits.

Weekends often mean board games, pickleball, exploring the city, or catching up with friends. And we can imagine days filled with stroller walks to Carroll Park, weekend bike rides with a child seat in tow, and big family dinners in the backyard. Holidays are spent between Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and Indonesia, surrounded by a large and loving extended family.

Our Family

Charlton’s family lives on the west side of Los Angeles, while Charlie’s family is in the Philadelphia area, San Antonio, and Seattle. We visit each other often and also host relatives in our Brooklyn home’s in-law suite so they can stay comfortably for extended visits.

Traditions like Thanksgiving in L.A. and Christmas in Philadelphia keep us closely connected to our extended family. Every year or two, we travel to Indonesia to spend time with Charlton’s extended family. Family is central to our lives, and we prioritize keeping strong relationships across generations and distance.
