Hillevi

hillevi ft

Hello, my name is Hillevi! I was born and raised in NYC. I love this city, and every borough in it. My loving family and extended family live close to me in NYC and in the nearby Westchester/Hudson Valley areas. Kids have always been a big part of my life: I started “babysitting” my younger brother when I was 10, and I have been a nanny for several families. As a teacher, I have worked with children of many different ages. I am excited to be adopting a child, and I am very much looking forward to learning about everything this kid loves – be that football, music, dance, or science experiments. Throughout my life, I have always loved connecting with kids through learning, playfulness, and humor, and I very much look forward to doing this with the new adopted member of my family. Most importantly, I am excited to learn about what helps this kid be their best self and thrive. My family is really looking forward to getting to know the new addition to the family!

About Hillevi

Job Description: Professor of Film and Media Studies and Educator

Hobbies:

  • Cooking
  • Photography
  • Reading
  • Hiking
  • Gardening
  • Exploring Nature

Fun Fact: One of my favorite places to go on beach walks is in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, where my good friends have a family beach house.

My Life

My life is filled with time with family, friends, and my students. I prepare for and teach classes every day of the work week; I can do my preparation work from home. This ability to work part-time from home would help me be more present for my child. My weekends are spent with friends and family, cooking and hanging out, or doing stuff outdoors, like going to the Hudson River Park or having BBQs when the weather is right. I also like to cook new recipes and do art projects at home. One of my favorite spots to visit is the Brooklyn Museum. I love going with friends/family to the First Saturday museum parties because of the scene, the outfits, the music, and art; there are kids and people of all ages together there enjoying life. During the summer, I’ll jump into a car with friends and drive to the beach.

My Family

I am close to my stepmother, father, stepsister, and cousin, all of whom live near me. My younger brother is also an important part of my life; he’s in Brooklyn. My family and I celebrate birthdays and the major Christian holidays together. My brother and I both went to a nearby Episcopal school; we sang in the children’s choir there. Our family continues a tradition from our childhood, and we go to the children’s choir performances on Christmas Eve. My extended family includes lifelong friends whom I consider family; they are excited to become aunties and uncles to my adopted child. My boyfriend of five years, Edmund, lives in Westchester; I often spend weekends with him. He is looking forward to welcoming my adopted child into our lives. My close friends Dawn, Karl, and their adopted daughter Nini are part of my extended family; I have been an auntie to Nini since she was born 9 years ago.

Final Thoughts

Thank you very much for reading this and taking the time to consider me as an adoptive parent. I am ready to give all my love and care to the precious new member of my family, and I will welcome them into my loving family circle.
