Hi! We’re Jimmy and Josué.
Thanks for taking the time to learn about us. We met at UC Berkeley as grad students and have been together for 10+years. We’ve been married for 7 years. In 2021, we brought home an adorable dog named Diego. He’s a small and playful Yorkie, and we’re pretty sure he thinks he’s in charge… We started talking about having kids before we even got married, and we’re excited to grow our family through adoption!
Jimmy is Chinese, and Josué is Puerto Rican. Between the two of us, we speak English, Spanish, Chinese, and Japanese. Jimmy studied math and neuroscience, and Josué studied social work and pedagogy. We see the
world in different ways, and that means we help each other learn and grow every day.
At heart, we are both kind and thoughtful people. We believe the ways we are alike and the ways we are different will both help us build a warm and loving home for our family.

Our Lives:
Jimmy works full-time but is in the office only three days a week, while Josué sets his own schedule and primarily works from home. This means we can spend a lot of quality time together at home, within the communities we are a part of, and while traveling internationally. We love attending Broadway shows, visiting museums, and exploring zoos, particularly enjoying behind-the-scenes tours and animal encounters. We also lead active lives, going to the gym, taking our dog, Diego, for walks, and playing table tennis several times a week. Diego loves table tennis—he’s adorably obsessed with chasing after the ping pong balls!
Our passion for travel and cultural exploration is a big part of our lives. We love learning about food, art, language, history, and more. Alongside English, we plan to teach our child Spanish and Mandarin Chinese, our native languages, using books, TV shows, and daily interactions. We also want to nurture their sense of individuality by encouraging them to explore their heritage and discover their passions—whether in sports, arts, or any other areas. We’re eager to share our own passions with our future child and are excited to learn what they enjoy so we can incorporate that into our lives as well.
Our Family:
Jimmy is a single child who grew up in China (his first international travel was to the US for college when he was 17). His parents live in Shanghai, and he makes regular trips back to visit them as well as his grandparents. Jimmy’s parents also come to the US about once a year, and they cook delicious Chinese food when they’re here! Jimmy and his parents also stay in touch via weekly video calls.
Josué is the second youngest of five, born in Michigan and raised in both Michigan and Puerto Rico. His parents, along with his siblings, nephews, and nieces, still live in Michigan, and he visits a few times a year. They’ve also visited many times while Josué lived in Chicago, the San Francisco Bay Area, and now the New York City Area. When together, family interactions often happen around making and eating delicious foods, from barbecued meats to Puerto Rican rice to fresh-baked desserts.
Final Thoughts:
We hope our profile shows how excited we are about building our family through adoption. We can’t know what it’s like to make this decision as the birth mother, but please know that we will be eternally grateful to you for trusting us in this way. We will honor your decision to help us build our family by working hard to provide unwavering, unconditional love and support.
