Joey & Robert

joey robert ft

We are Joey and Robert. We got married in 2023 and have been together for over seven years. We live in an apartment in Manhattan’s Upper West Side with Bowser, our 15-year-old pointer-beagle mix.

NYC is the best home we could ask for, and we try to take advantage of all it has to offer. We enjoy an active lifestyle, regularly exercising, hiking upstate, or biking through the city. We’re each nerdy in our own way and share a passion for learning, whether that’s listening to an audiobook, visiting a museum, or exploring a new city together. Our community is our pride and joy, and we consider ourselves lucky to be surrounded by a diverse group of deeply kind, supportive, and hilarious family and friends.

We knew that we wanted to grow our family for a long time, but that we wouldn’t be able to do so the “old-fashioned” way. An adoption appealed to us because we believe we can provide a loving home to a child in need. We are so eager to welcome a new member into our family built on unconditional love, learning, and laughter.

Our Lives

Our lives are grounded in our relationships, our health, and a shared passion for learning. We are both fulfilled in our careers, which allows for a healthy work–life balance and leaves our evenings largely our own. Our weekday evenings are often spent together, cooking healthy dinners, chatting, and watching our favorite films. We both appreciate a good story and are excited to revisit all of the great children’s books from our past. On weekends, we’re likely spending quality time with friends, taking long walks with our dog in Central Park, or tripping out to Long Island to see Robert’s family. Travel is one of our biggest passions, and we hope to show our child the world through its big cities, small towns, and national parks. We can’t wait to share this life and see the world anew through a child’s eyes!

Our Family

We have a loving and supportive network that is excited for us to expand our family. Robert’s Chosen Family, the Germanos, live on Long Island, and we see them often. We head out there for birthdays, baseball games, or just a day by the pool. With four nephews under ten, it’s never a dull moment!
Joey’s mom, sister, and nephew live in Michigan, where Joey grew up. We drive out there with our dog a couple of times a year to stay in Joey’s childhood home. While there, we enjoy taking trips to the beach, playing VR games with our nephew, and cooking for the family.

In NYC, we are surrounded by many close friends, several of whom are starting new families of their own. Our child will be immersed in a loving community, no matter where they go.
