Todd & Steven

We both grew up in close families. When we met over 12 years ago we both knew we wanted to have a family and have the opportunity to raise a child. We are a same sex couple and cannot have a child naturally. We decided adoption was the right path for us as we want to provide a loving and nurturing home to a child who would not have that opportunity otherwise.

Within our friends and families we have many “nieces and nephews”. We have loved seeing our friends become parents and see their kids grow over the years. We have been focused on our careers and building a stable household, but more than ever we are ready to grow our family.

Fun Facts

We are both the third child of families with four children. We partially credit our desire to have our own child(ren) to being a part of a large loving family as kids ourselves. We also both have grandparents or great grandparents who were immigrants to the US via either Mexico, Switzerland, or Germany in the 1900’s. This informs our belief that everyone deserves a chance for opportunity and success. Lastly, we’re both actively learning spanish and hope our future child will be bilingual, with the help of tutors and our spanish speaking friends.

Joint Hobbies

We both enjoy seeing Broadway shows, camping, going hiking, and being outdoors. We enjoy trying out new restaurants, but also make home cooked meals regularly throughout the week. We also both love dogs and spend a lot of time playing with and going on walks with our dog Leela.

Our Lives

We love to keep busy and always looking for new places to explore or an experience to have whether it be taking a class to learn something new, biking around town, checking out a museum, or a local street fair. Living near NYC gives us so many opportunities for new experiences. We have a dog that we love. She is very sweet, loving, and enjoys cuddling on the couch.

In the summers we spend time taking regular weekend trips around the area. Steven’s parents are both within driving distance. We like spending time at the beach, near the pool, or out on Steven’s Dad’s boat. We visit Todd’s family in California at least once a year and take a few vacations each year. We cook dinner at home often and spend a lot of time exploring local parks and activities.

Our Family

Both of our immediate families are vital in our lives. Steven’s family is physically close and we see them often. His parents are divorced and both remarried but ever present in our lives. They and their partners are loving and caring people, having raised a total of eleven children between the four of them. While Todd’s family is on the west coast they play a large part of our lives via phone calls, text messages, and visits.

Todd’s family has an annual tamale making tradition passed down from his great grandmother. The Tuscher’s also love board games, silly movies, and road trips. Steven’s family makes spaetzle and corned beef and cabbage. We both grew up camping, fishing, and hiking and we want to share all of these traditions and loves with our child.

Final Thoughts

As parents who have no natural ability to pro-create we would be honored and humbled to raise a child as our own family. We will do everything in our power to ensure the child is loved, nurtured, and brought up in a manner that celebrates their unique background and individuality. Every child deserves a chance to succeed and be loved. Both of our families helped guide us on paths with strong morals, constant support, and endless curiosity for the world. We hope to provide that for our child.
