Molly FireShot Capture 161 MarComm Requests [spence chapin marcomm.monday.com].pdf (21)

Our team met Molly on our recent trip to Colombia. Her smile lit up the room as soon as she entered! Molly, who recently turned 10, entered the child welfare system at age 8 due to a fragmented living environment. She currently attends the third grade and is delayed educationally due to lack of consistent school attendance previously. Teachers report that Molly “behaves well at school and shows respect toward teachers.” The school is undergoing an evaluation to see if Molly will qualify for academic support for reading and math.

The Colombia social worker report describes Molly as “…a very engaged child; she responds to what is happening around her, plays and talks with other children, follows instructions, and is eager to participate in activities offered to her. Molly is an affectionate girl who finds it easy to make friends with her peers and is comfortable receiving and giving affection to both peers and significant adults in her life.”

Understandably, given the early disruptions in her life, Molly struggles with frustration tolerance and consistently regulating her emotions. Despite this, she does not have any diagnoses and is not taking any medication. She is receiving therapy and the reports state that she continues to make steady progress with this support.

During our time with Molly we enjoyed playing balloon volleyball, blowing bubbles and coloring.

Molly is hoping that her future family will have a dog. She likes watching movies and said her favorite is Inside Out. She enjoys singing and playing basketball.

Molly needs a family who is patient and affectionate, willing to play and who has the ability to advocate for her educational needs through an IEP process with the family’s local school district. Does that sound like you or someone you know? We’d love to talk with you more about Molly!
