Tuesday, November 28th is Giving Tuesday, a global generosity movement aimed at inspiring people to give back to causes they care about.
At Spence-Chapin, there is nothing we care more about than the children we serve.
This year we are doing something special and dedicating our Giving Tuesday to our Granny Program.
The Granny Program pairs trained local caregivers, or “Grannies,” to children living in institutionalized care to spend one-on-one time with the same child each day to support their development, teach trust and love, and give them the care they need.
This year, more than 480 children received love and care from Grannies in South Africa and Colombia. In the new year, we plan to open more programs and support a total of 600 children in 2024.
And this year, we have very special thank you gifts to offer for a limited time to show our appreciation for your support! See below for more details.
For a limited time and while supplies last, we are pleased to be able to offer three special thank you offers for your generosity this Giving Tuesday!
On a recent trip to Colombia, Spence-Chapin visited one of the newest insitutions to open a Granny Program, Michin Foundation, located in Bogota. While there, we saw some of the older children working with their art teacher to make beautiful, hand-crafted wooden nativity sets. The children were thrilled when we suggested to bring these sets back with us to help support the Granny Program.
When Spence-Chapin visited two institutions in the Western Cape province where we had recently opened the Granny Program, we were struck by the beauty and lushness of the region—indeed, it is an award-winning wine country, home to many well-known wine varietals, including the Pinotage, a grape unique to South Africa that crosses pinot noir and cinsault. These wines would make a wonderful gift for the holidays and would make a perfect pair to a holiday meal.
Amor Perfecto coffee is the first ever Colombian roasted-at-origin coffee, and boasts the most direct supply chain to ever exist in the coffee industry, meaning fewer middlemen, and more profits back to local coffee producers and roasters. This particular variety is 100% Colombian Arabica certified organic with sweet and floral flavors, with a delicate and creamy body that leaves a sensation of panela notes.
