Talking with Children About Their Adoption Story and Birthparents

  •  February 6, 2024
     7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Join Spence-Chapin for a free training event, Talking with Children About Their Adoption Story and Birthparents. It’s not always easy to know what to say and when to say it. This workshop provides strategies and guidelines to help parents talk to their children about their adoption story and birth parents at varying ages and stages of their development. We’ll also address how Adoption intersects with children’s developmental milestones and explore how each stage brings new questions and a deeper understanding of adoptees’ identity as they grow into adulthood.

Participants are encouraged to watch the documentary Closure about a transracial adoptee who searches for her birth family prior to the event. It can be rented for $2.99 here. The movie will be discussed during the event. This is not a requirement, please still join us if you are not able to watch the move in advance.

This event will not be recorded.

We're sorry, but all tickets sales have ended because the event is expired.
