What is Bagels & Blox?

Bagels & Blox is a beloved Spence-Chapin community-building event that provides a space for young adoptees ages 0-5 years old and their parents to meet with other families, and create new connections. Play stations are set up in our Community Events space, where kids are able to find the toys and games they want to play with, while parents are nearby. Spence-Chapin staff, and adoptee volunteers are onsite to oversee the play spaces, lead activities and engage in conversation.


What if our family did not adopt through Spence-Chapin – can we participate?

Yes, of course! All adoptive families are welcome to join us


What is included in membership for Bagels & Blox?

Registration either per semester or year includes access to one parenting or family counseling session with a Spence-Chapin clinician.

Admission to Play Café is also included in registration for Bagels & Blox, per family.


What is Play Café?

Play Cafe is a play group for children ages 6-9 years old facilitated by a Spence-Chapin social worker and adoptee volunteers. Adoption identity is explored in an age appropriate way through conversation, play, creativity and self expression. Through activities like, friendship bracelet making, creating your own identity pizza, reading books with adoption themes, kids have a chance to make friends, have fun and make lasting memories. Play Cafe takes place alongside Bagels & Blox, in a separate space, parents are nearby enjoying breakfast and conversation with other participating families.
